Mail configuration using Mail on MacOS

Requirements:

In this tutorial we will show you how to configure your Apple Mail client on MacOS to be used with a mailbox of your Online hosting account.

  • Start MAC Mail on your computer and click on “Mail” in the menu bar, click on “Add an account”:

  • You will see a list of different e-Mail providers, click on “Add another mail account” and click on “Continue”:

  • Enter your name, e-mail address and password, then click on “Create”:

  • Mail will now try to configure your account automatically, which will not be possible - you will see the following window.

Enter the information for the incoming mail server as follows.

  • For a WEB hosting

  • For a CLOUD hosting

  • Select the apps you want to use with Mail

  • Mail connects to the server now and downloads your folders and mails. You can access the folders from the list on the left.

Advanced configuration

Normally Mail is able to configure your mailbox automatically with all required parameters.
In case you have any connection problems, you may access the advanced configuration to validate the settings:

  • To access the advanced configuration options, click on Mail then on Preferences.
  • To edit the configuration of the SMTP server, click on Edit SMTP server list…

  • Validate the configuration of the SMTP server (incoming mail):

  • For a WEB offer: Server smtpauth.online.net Port 587 Use SSL Yes
  • For a CLOUD offer: Server smtp.cloud.online.net Port 587 Use SSL Yes
  • Validate the configuration of the IMAP server (outgoing mail):

  • For a WEB offer: Server imap.online.net Port 143 Use SSL Yes
  • For a CLOUD offer: Server imap.cloud.online.net Port 143 Use SSL Yes
