Configuration of Cyberduck

A guide for the usage of Cyberduck with the FTP server of the web hostings at

Like for other FTP clients, you need to configure a FTP account at first.

It's important to note in Cyberduck all differents informations.

Remember, you need to upload your website in the folder www if you want to make it accessible by typing your domain name with or without www

If your FTP account shows the directory / after connecting, you need to upload your files to the folder www. If you find yourself already in the /www you can directly upload your files.

On Windows

If you have a problem of a missing DLL after the installation of CyberDuck, reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ :
  • Go to Bookmarks and Add a new one

  • Configure your bookmark as following:
    • Type: FTP-SSL
    • Name of the bookmark: My Site (you can choose what you like)
    • Server: (WEB hosting) or (CLOUD hosting)
    • Port: 21
    • Username: webmaster@domain.ext
    • Connection mode: Passive

For WEB hosting

For CLOUD hosting

Once you have entered the details you may close the window.
You then return to the main page where your bookmark should be.
Double-click on it to launch the connection.

  • A new window will appear. Enter your password and check the box about saving your password.

  • Now click on “Login”. You are now connected and your files are displayed in the FTP client.


To configure your account with Cyberduck, you need to click on “Open connection”, once you have opened it.

You will arrive at the following page:

At “Address of the server”, you need to enter the address of the server. It is for all web hosting FTP accounts and for all cloud hostings at

At “User name” you have to enter the identifier that you have found in your management console (for example:

At “Password” you need to enter the password for your FTP account, that you have found in your management console.

For WEB hosting:

Then simply click on “Connection”.

If the following message appears, check the box “Do not show again” and then click on “Continue”:

You are now connected to the FTP server.

Your files are displayed in the client and you can upload your site.
