Automatic installation

Most CMS can be installed fully automatic.

This means, after clicking on the install button, everything will be done automatically for you. Once the installation is finished, you will get an email containing your credentials.

In order to start the installation, click on the CMS of your choice. Then you have to …:

  • Select the desired version of your CMS
  • Enter the database to be used and its credentials (see Creation of a database)
  • Choose the installation path

The installation path is the addreess by which the CMS will be accessible.

If you want to access it directly by “www.mysite.com”, you can leave this field empty.

If you want to do some tests or install the application in another folder, you will have to enter a path (for example “test” ; The application will then be available at www.mysite.com/test)

Example with Wordpress

Choose “Wordpress” in the list of CMS, it can be found in the section “Blog”.

Fill in the credentials for the database, available in the “MySQL Database” section of your web hosting.

Click on “Install” and wait until the installation has finished (this may take a few minutes)

Once it is finished, the administration button will be available:

You can now connect to your application using the credentials you have received by email.

Semi-automatic installation (expert mode)

Some installations are complex, they can't be done fully automated.

There are some few actions that have to be done by yourself in order to finalize the installation.

At first you have to, as seen above, select the desired CMS, its version and enter the necessary elements.

During the choice of options, you will see a bot “expert installation”, checked by default.

This will make the difference to the fully automatic installation.

On the other installations this box is optional for those, who want to customize the installation of their CMS.

Example with Joomla!

Once the installation is complete, you can click on the “Install” button to complete the configuration of your software.

You should arrive on a page like this:

Fill in the requested items and click on “Next”.

You will be asked for the login information to the database.

These can be found in the “MySQL Database” section of your web hosting.

You should leave the default values for the fields “Database type”; “Table prefix”; and “Previous Installation”

Once you have entered all the required values, click on “Next”. The connection to your database will be tested.

If everything goes well, you arrive on the next page. If not, you have to check again the infomation indicated.

On the next page Joomla! offers you to pre-install site data. It makes it easier to change it later.

You can also choose to receive the configuration of your Joomla! by email for backup.

Make your choice and click “Install.”.

The installation finishes and a new page is displayed.

The Online.net team invites you to click on the “Delete” button in the installer for more security of your installation.

Now you can start administering your site using the Administration button available.
