Failover IP Windows 2003

Old method using a loopback interface:

  1. Add new hardware: Start → Control Panel → New → equipment “Yes, I have already connected the hardware” → Add a new hardware device → Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced) → Network Cards → → Microsoft Microsoft loopback Adapter
  2. Configure the new interface: Start → Control Panel → Network → Local Area Connection 2 (or 3) → Properties → Indicate your IP failover with netmask 255.255.255.0 → Confirm change
  3. Modify the registry: Start → Run → regedit → CTRL + F3 → locate your address IP failover → Next. Once the address is found, change the “SubnetMask” field indicating 255.255.255.255 and then confirm
  4. Restart the network interface
