Multi-IP virtual MAC addresses

You can use the same virtual MAC at several failover IPs pointing on the same dedicated server.

To do this you need to have several failover IPs at the same server and at least one virtual MAC associated with one of these failover IPs.

As long as they share the same virtual MAC, your failover IPs must be moved in a group from one server to another.

Please note, MAC addresses are generated by the console, you can not choose them manually.

Assignment from an existing virtual MAC

At the page for the management of failover IPs, the menu of an IP failover proposes to use this MAC with another IP failover.

A window then appears in which you can select one or more IPs among those not yet having a virtual MAC.

Choose from the proposed models and click OK, the MAC address is then shared.

Assignment from an IP failover without MAC

At the page for the management of failover IPs, the menu of an IP failover proposes to use it with an existing MAC address.

A window appears in which you can select between the virtual MAC addresses already created.

Make your choice and click on OK, the MAC address is then shared.

Deletion of a virtual MAC

The MAC of an IP address can be deleted by clicking on the item “Delete the virtual MAC address” in the menu of IP.

When you delete the sharing of a MAC address with others only the association between the chosen IP and the MAC will be deleted. The other IPs are not affected.

Moving failover IPs with shared MAC

The failover IPs sharing the same MAC address have to point to the same dedicated server. In the Configuration interface of the failover IPs, they will appear as as group and can not be moved individually.
